Buzz MagazineI started writing "professionally" for Buzz Magazine, a free magazine which was distributed around Devon and Cornwall's record shops, clubs, bars, and pubs in February of 1998.

The sole motive for this was to get into clubs for free - but apparently people enjoyed the way I wrote, and I took it further.

While still writing for the Buzz, I joined the Cornish Guardian Newspaper - a weekly broadsheet with an ABC of around 55,000 every week - as a freelance "entertainments" writer, mainly covering the Dance music scene, as well as dipping into the live band scene occassionally.

During this time I was approached to write for a number of other publications, including Knowledge Magazine, The Big Issue, and M-8, but discussion was as far as these offers went. I did, however, briefly take over the Dance Music pages of TDB (The Dogs' Bollocks) which covered the area from Plymouth to Bristol - but Cornwall was where it was at for me, and I took up a permanent position with Buzz Magazine as Listings and News Editor.

I carried on working freelance for The Cornish Guardian until shortly after the Eclipse of 1999, which caused the cease of trading of Buzz Magazine, with several of it's major advertisers folding due to the lack of interest in Cornwall's inflated prices and mass hysteria surrounding the event.

Examples of my work in print can be found under the Press Work link at the top of the page.
